Most vehicles are now recycled when scrapped. There are many components that can be reused.
Engine oil is retrieved and sent to recycling centers. Batteries are salvaged. Tyres are collected from the cars. Those in good condition can be sold on, some can be retreaded, the rest can be recycled.
What remains of the car is often crushed and sent off to recycle the metal.
